Handpainted Yarn - Uruguay

**Handpainted Yarn LACE - Purple Gold**

**Handpainted Yarn LACE - Italiano**
.
.
.
.
Boas Tricotadas!
.
=D

.
I bought this yarn from Handpainted Yarn, Uruguay.
100% pure wool
It's a Lace yarn, and each skein has 850 yards.
.
The website is good, the yarn is inexpensive (US$7,40), the shipping is cheap, but... unfortunatelly my package has been stopped by customs, and the taxes cost 200% more than the yarn.
.
That happens because it ships by DHL instead post mail nacional service. I always buy things from USA and Europe using post mail for shipping, but Handpainted Yarn only ships by DHL, and I though I would not have problems.
Now I know that when I buy something for foreing countries, I have to ship by post mail service, to have extra taxes free.
Remembering that this is a Brazilian situation. I don't know about how customs work in other countries.
.
Well, there's nothing I can do about it now.
Uruguay is very near from Brazil, so I think that sometimes I can go there to buy it instead doing this way.
.
But the yarns are very beautiful!!!!
.
Happy Knitting!

Babette Blanket - Part I

.
Estou usando fio Pingouin Desejo, nas 5 cores acima (sisal, fiesta, seiva, fresh, love speel) e agulha n° 4mm
.
=D
.
.
....................................
.
.
So... this is the project that encouraged me to learn crochet.
You can search on Ravelry by "Babette Blanket" to see lots of beautiful projects of it.
.
Since I became part of Ravelry I wanted to crochet this blanket. I just fall in love for that, but I didn't know how to crochet so I decided to wait some time.
.
Almost a year later, I decided to learn crochet to do this blanket. Ok, there are many knitting beautiful blankets, but I confess that none attracted me as much as this in crochet.
.
At the time I read the pattern, I got really scared: 126 squares divide in 6 different sizes. Oh God!!! That's too much!!!
I have no idea how much time I'll get to do all that... And I always have lots of projects in progress...
It's a so beautiful project. I'm praying I don't get tired of it.
.
The advantage of this blanket is that you do it in little pieces, different from knitting, that the work keep growing...
The bad part is that you have to sew it all together.
.
I would like to finish it for this winter, but I don't know if I have time, because our winter starts in July, and it's starting to get cold already.
.
I'm using the Yarn Pingouin Desejo in 5 different colors (sisal, fiesta, seiva, fresh, love speel), and 4mm hook.

Aprendendo Crochet / Learning Crochet

.
=D
.
.
............................................................
.
.
I never been interested about learning crochet. I always prefered knitting (and I still prefer).
But there are some crocheted things that I would like to do, and because it, I'm learning now.
The problem of been a begginer is that I can't start crocheting what I really want to. So, I started doing this coasters, just to practice.
.
There's no pattern, my mother teach me how to do it. And, strangely, I understand better patterns in english than the portuguese ones...
But I know that this coasters are very simple for people that already crochet, so it can be copy just looking.
.
I'm using Pingouin Bella (yarn) and hook 2,5mm
.
I wanna see till when I'll have patience for it...

Tricotando... / Knitting...

...meu primeiro Xale em Lace!!!
.
Quero ver quanto tempo vou levar.
.
Boas Tricotadas!!
.
=D

.
...my first lace shawl!!!
.
You can imagine how excited I am.
I took this picture when I finished the first part, but now it has + 2 more repeats.
.
I've started knitting it on April 17, 2009.
I usually don't knit on weekends, and because it this project is going slowly
I would like to knit every day one repeat at least. But if you had already knitted a shawl, you know that the quantity of stitches increase almost every row, so... I cannot promisse anything.
.
When I finish the shaw, I'll post the pictures of it and link to the pattern.
.
Happy Knitting!!

Socks Key Chain

Fio: Pingouin Bella Colour (1 fio)
Agulhas retas n° 3
Agulha de tapeçaria para costurar
.
.
.
Happy Knitting!
.
=D
.
.
..................................................

.
Yarn: Pingouin Bella Colour
US 2 1/2 (3mm) Straight Needles
.
.
This is a christmas stoking pattern, but changing collors it can be used as key chain. It's a very good option for gifts =D
.
Believe you or not, this little socks are knitted with straight needles and are perfect! Loved Knitting them!
My socks are bigger because I used 3mm needles instead the 2.75mm needles that the pattern suggests.
Next ones I wanna knit in 2 colors, to accentuate heel and toe.
.
Happy Knitting!

My Sweet Cora

Fios: Pingouin Desejo (cinza), Pingouin Desejo (Azul), Pingouin Noblesse (Rosa)
Jogo de Agulhas de 2 pontas n° 4,5mm
Receita: Própria
.
.
(risos)
.
.
Boas tricotadas =D
.
.
....................................................................
.
.
Yarn: Pingouin Desejo (grey), Pingouin Desejo (blue), Pingouin Noblesse (pink).
US 7 (4.5mm) double point needles
Pattern: Made my own
.
.
Don't know why, but since I started to knit toys I just can't stop.
.
Knit Cora wasn't difficult. Te body is the same as the bunny, changing only the head and tail.
Now she makes part of my bedroom decoration.
After I finished it, I thought I could made her wearing boots.
.
My boyfriend asked me if I want to make Noah's Ark. hehehehe...
.
I'm not going to publish the pattern for the same reason as the easter bunny: The creation belongs to Julie Williams
.
Happy Knitting! =D

Um Presente Maravilhoso! / A Wonderful Gift!

.
Monika:
Muito, muito, muito obrigada! Estou muito feliz de ter "Roses in the Snow" comigo!
.
Boas Tricotadas!
.
.
..........................................................................................
.
.
Yesterday, when I arrived at home after work, I found this package waiting for me...
.
No, I didn't buy this yarn.
.
I received this gift from Monika (Smoking Hot Needles). She lives in Canada (but she's originally from Austria), and she makes her own handspun.
Some time ago I found her blog and since then I visit it often. Every Friday she posts some handspun.
.
On April 3, she posts this yarn HERE, called "Roses in Snow".
The color is a mixture of pink, white and yellow gold. Really beautiful!!!
So I posted a comment, saying that I really like to see her work and telling that we do not have this kind of yarn here in Brazil, and it's also impossible to make handspun here because doesn't have materials for it here too.
.
After it, she sent me an e-mail, asking me if I would like to have "Roses in the Snow".
I was so happy!
She told me it's merino wool with some glitter, so I can block it!
And it has enough yardage for the progect I wanna do with it.
.
WAIT FOR IT!
.
On Smoking Hot Needles you can learn more about Monika's work, besides her adorable dogs: Sam and Biko.
.
Monika:
Thank you so much! I'm glad to have "Roses in the Snow" here!
.
Happy Knitting!

Lã Merino no Brasil / Merino Wool in Brazil

.
1 novelo de 100gr tem 219m e só tem as 3 cores da foto.
.
E o frete me custou algo em torno de US$4,00.
.
Happy Knitting!
.
.
......................................................................
.
.
Usually I go to Bazar Horizonte's Web Site, just to look new yarns, and when I saw this, I decided to share with you.
Yeah, it's 100% merino wool.
.
Infortunatelly, it's not a good yarn for lace shawls.
But I'm happy that now we have merino wool in Brazil. I think it's the first merino wool yarn in Brazil, because I never heard about or saw it here before.
.
1 skein has 100gr and 219m. And have only this 3 colors.
.
Now, the bad news: the price. 1 skein costs R$29,90 (about US$13,00).
And, for this price, I think it's better to buy an imported wool, like Debbie Bliss...
But that's ok. Having it here is already a huge progress.
.
No, I didn't buy it.
That's because I just buy 2 skeins of 100% merino lace from Hand Painted Yarn... I payed US$ 7,20 each skein, and shipping costs about US$4,00...
Cheaper than our "not-lace merino wool".
.
Happy Knitting!

Coisas de Páscoa - Parte I / Easter Stuff - Part I

.
Fios: Desejo (Pingouin) marrom; Desejo (Pingouin) verde; Noblesse (Pingouin) vermelho, restos de lã na cor preto.
Jogo de agulhas de 2 pontas 4,5mm
.
.
Eu copiei ele olhando as fotos da Julie (Little Cotton Rabbits).
.
=D
.
.

.
Yarn: Desejo (Pingouin) brown; Desejo (Pingouin) green, Noblesse (Pingouin) red. Leftovers of black yarn.
Set of double Point needles 4,5mm
.
.
This bunny is part of my boyfriend's easter gift =D
.
I did a new pattern for him, but I cannot publish it.
The reason is simple: It's a copy.
I copy it just looking at Julie's work (Little Cotton Rabbits).
She didn't published the bunny's pattern yet, so it's not fair if I tell how I did it, even doing it in a different way, because this creation belongs to her.
I hope you understand my reasons.
.
Later I'll post more Easter Stuff.

.
.
=D
.
.
....................................................................................
.
.
People, this post is just to tell you something:
I've been seen that I get many visits for foreign countries, and after Monika's comment (Smoking Hot Needles) on my post "Heart Key Chain", I decided that from now on I will post here in 2 languages: Portuguese and English.
.
I tried google translator but the translation done is very bad. It often distort the words and change the meaning of them.
Ok, I admit: my english is not wonderful.
I've studied English for almost 7 years, but I have been more than a year without practicing, and now I feel that some words are missing.
But, even with it, I think I can communicate, and if I have difficulty with something, I know that my good old Oxford dictionary will help me!
.
I will start my posts writting in portuguese, and after it, you will find the same words in English. I'll separate the languages with (...........................................................)
.
Gradually, I'll try to put the English translation on the old posts too, at least on the ones of 2009.
The categories will also takes their English version.
.
This way I hope to expand the communication between Sweet Tricot and the world.

Heart Key Chain

Fio Noblesse (Pingouin), restos na cor vermelho.
Agulhas de 2 pontas 4,5mm
Receita: Little Hearts, de Teresa Fox. Esta receita está no Ravelry.
.
.
.
Happy Knitting!
.
=D
.
.
............................................................
.
.
Yarn: Noblesse (Pingouin), leftover.
Set of double point needles 4,5mm
Pattern: Little Hearts, by Teresa Fox. This pattern is available for download on Ravelry.
.
.
You can do this little heart just using leftovers. It didn't took me 30 minutes to finish it. You need a bit of fiber for stuffing.
The designer suggested to use it as a gift, but when I saw it, I thought in a key chain.
.
To compose it, I used waxed thread and some beads. Here in Brazil this things are found in a kind of store that we call "armarinho".
.
Another idea I had is knitting this heart in white color and make a beautiful decoration, maybe using ribbons and little flowers, it could be used as a wedding decoration or something.
.
I have so many leftover yarns that I decided to make lots of key chains. It's a good thing to knit between long projects.
.
Happy Knitting!

Verity

.
Fio Desejo (Pingouin) - 1 novelo de 100gr
Agulha circular de 40cm n° 4,5mm
Jogo de Agulhas de 2 pontas n° 4,5
Receita: "Verity", de Ysolda Teague. À venda no site da Ysolda, AQUI.
(receita em inglês)
.
.
.
.
Happy Knitting!
.

Yarn: Desejo (Pingouin) - 1 ball of 100gr
40cm circular needle 4,5mm
A set of double point needles 4,5mm
Pattern: "Verity", by Ysolda Teague. On sale HERE.
.
.
I saw this beret on ravelry a time ago and I always wanted to knit it. Last week I finally decided to buy Ysolda's pattern, who designs not just berets, but a lot of cool stuff.
.
This beret has a completely different construction than the other ones I've knitted. It starts in an i-cord and you go on increasing stiches. It's very cool to see the how it takes form.
The band is made in a different way too. I just love it!
.
The beret has a large flower on the top. And this button is very charming!
.
I bought this pattern with paypal and received imediatelly the link for download on my email.
For those who like berets, this pattern is highly recommended. It's very well explained, if you follow all the instructions there's no way to make something wrong.
.
And because I think Ysolda's berets really beautiful, I also bougth another one called "Rose Red". Just can't wait to start knitting!
.
Happy Knitting!

.
Eu já havia tricotado estas duas boinas. AQUI, a 1° Fern Glade, e, AQUI a 1° Slouch for all Seasons.
.
(risos)
E irão sair daqui rumo à São Paulo em algumas horas. Espero que você goste.

First of all, forgive me for this bad photos... I took this morning in a hurry, because I'll not have time to do it later, once this berets are going away by the noon.
.
I've had already knitted this berets. HERE is the 1° Fern Glade, and HERE the 1° Slouch for all Seasons.

Just loved the Red Fern Glade. It's much more gourgeous than the first, in light pink.
But I'm gonna tell you, I love red. On clothing, accessories, shoes, shoes and even on hair!

These two berets are an order from Daniele (Moça Arteira)
This little bag, made with some fabric, were also made by me.
In a few hours this package will leave from here to São Paulo.
I hope she likes.

Happy Knitting!
